Personality Traits

<sub>On a day to day basis, Chase is a mature and calm-natured man, respectful to superiors as well as acquaintances, always wearing a smile on his face, much to the chagrin of people that deal with him in the business who think he's too 'clean' for it. He is an extremely quick thinker, and perceptive to what people are feeling, allowing him to avoid and/or diffuse (usually the former) any situations that could get sticky, and generally likes to avoid conflict at all cost.

When angered, however (mind you, this doesn't occur on a general basis), he loses all rationality and will kill for revenge. Things that could possibly anger him to such a degree generally have nothing to do with him, but of those close to him (i.e. Wesley¹ and Lumiere²).

Despite being mild-mannered, Chase suffers from a complex about being left alone, and gets irrationally attached to all his team mates and people he gets to know. This might come across as clingy to some, but he's really not too good at trying to keep friends normally, really.

Apart from that, Chase has a bit of a sadistic side to him, and finds watching other people suffer extremely entertaining, though he'd never outright admit it. He also has a bizarre sense of humour that no one apart from Wesley and Lumiere gets, and is full of ridiculous puns and jokes (he just wants you to laugh ok, all you grumpy mafia buttfaces :c).</sub>

Background

<sub>Born as Elliot, the youngest and only son to a middle-class British family in London, he was raised without him or his parents having knowledge of his ability cuz parents don't let kids play with electrical thingies or something shh let me pretend ok, assuming that he was just born affected with a colour pigmentation and nothing else. When he was approximately aged 7, he got jealous of all the amazing presents his older sister had received for her birthday and decided to steal one of the toys - a robot dog - to play with. When his sister and parents found out, they attempted to coax him to return it (though his sister just threw a tantrum and said she hated him and he should die because he's a meanie butt), but was returned with him bursting into tears, claiming no one loved him. The sadness and anger that welled up inside him unleashed his dormant ability, causing him to subconsciously electrocute his parents to death. His sister escaped unscathed physically from the event, but not mentally. She cursed him for being a 'monster', and fleed the site, leaving him all alone in shock and horror, with his sister's curse reverberating in his mind. 'Monster'. This left him horrified at his new found ability, which he wished he never knew he had.

The incident itself was hushed up due to authorities not wanting news of yet another destructive child affected with chromatism. However, catching whiff of Elliot and the incident, a genetic researcher took him into his care, and in exchange for feeding him and providing him with a home and education, ran experiments on him in order to better understand the abilities that blessed (or cursed, depends how you look at it) some people. There, he met Wesley, the son of the researcher that took him under his wing, as well as Lumiere at the school that he attended, who both were colorists as well, and became fast friends with the two. At the facility, he was referred to as 'Chase', a code name given by the researchers there, which he took a liking to, and decided to use for everyday life.

After he graduated from high school at the age of 18, instead of pursuing further education, he decided to leave the facility in order to find his sister in hopes of reconciling with her. He found out she had long since left the country, and thus decided to do the same, however soon found out that the prejudice directed at those with chromatism made it hard to move around. Somehow or another he was led to Chromatica, and joined up with the BP Faction after hearing that through their connections, he might just be able to locate his sister. The faction was taken by his flawless negotiation skills, and held great interest in the destructive power of his main ability, thus setting him up for a job on the client-side. His job within the faction is dealing directly with the clientel, coaxing them into suckering into really bad deals, as well as negotiating trade prices for imports i.e. he helps set up the prices so that BP can P R O F I T.

As a cover, Chase works at as a teacher at a kindergarten for children affected with chromatism. Because who wouldn't send their children to be looked after by a drug trafficker?</sub>

Powers

<sub>Chase is able to release electrostatic discharge equivalent to that of 3 times a regular lightning bolt³ from his right arm at full power when in contact with a metallic conductor. In general, he'd never discharge it at full power even if he was begged to (SEE BACKGROUND), and wears a bracelet given to him by the research facility, which acts as a resistor that limits the voltage leaving his body - he kinda sucks at controlling it on his own. 90% of the time he will only activate his power in order to paralyze foes or as a scare tactic (such as sparking fire to things), or because he felt like being cool for 2 seconds. Overuse of his power (using it at fullpower for too long) will result in the reversal of the direction of current flow, causing him to suffer from temporary paralysis.

His secondary power is an aura of soothing, which he had gained through a successful experimentation from the lab he resided in during his youth. While being emitted, he is able to temporarily calm down and de-stress people within a 3 metre radius of him. The downside? It only works on a small number of people at any one time, and it doesn't work on Wesley (possibly due to him having undergone the same experiment unsuccessfully thus gaining an immunity to it, though no one really knows). Welp. At least it makes Lumiere more likeable whenever he's around her.</sub>

Other Information

<sub>- His birthday is May 19.
- He enjoys foiling Wesley's antics with his soothing aura. Actually, he just enjoys trolling with his soothing aura in general (c'mon, seeing arguing mafia pawns suddenly hug each other is funny, right?).
- Pretty much the only person who can tolerate Wesley and Lumiere in the same room at the same time, and is often seen hanging out with the two.
- He wears a steel ring on his right thumb, given to him by Wesley's father. He uses it as conductor for his powers.
- He subconsciously emits sparks when embarrassed or flustered. While we're at it, he also consciously emits sparks when dealing with clients because he thinks it gives him an angry aura like villians in cartoons i.e. FEELS COOL.
- He's a pretty good cook, and especially enjoys making desserts and giving them ridiculous names.
- He thinks his code name is really cool, which is pretty much the only reason he still uses it really, other than the fact he also associates his birth name with getting into trouble (caused by childhood traumatic experiences due to Wesley and Lumiere).</sub>
